So... It Finally Happened
and it only took 8 years lol.
So, to the less than 10 readers on this profile, [insert awkward greeting]. I’ve finally done it… my website is now live!
I’ll be honest, I’ve never really thought of myself as a blogger in the traditional sense — but I do enjoy writing so here we are. So who am I? (for the eventual newcomers)… I’m Dylan! A 30-ish food, design and travel writer loosely based in Toronto and France (about an 70/30 split).
I recently started my writing career in 2022 while working with Food Network Canada. Prior to that all my writing experience was either for social media captions or quippy political-related press releases — a topic for another time. Throughout all that time, I genuinely wanted to become a creative writer. Storytelling is one of the greatest affinities in my life, and I’m so grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had to not only tell my story, but others as well.
My plan for this platform is simple at it’s core: I want to connect people with food. Sure, if there’s 99 other food bloggers in the room — why am I the one you should listen to? I suppose it isn’t a matter of should you, but rather would you? Is the storytelling element of food interesting to you? Does learning about chefs and their restaurants tickle your taste buds? I’ve been connected to the food industry long enough to know that there are gaps — gaps in how we actually connect with the community of food lovers around us.
So what will Fifty First Tastes do for you? A few things…
Recipe content focused around life experiences through the lens of myself and others
Food-focused Travel Guides for the various countries I visit throughout the year.
Personal topics around food, dating and personal growth in the setting of a local restaurant.
Stories about chefs and their dreams beyond the kitchen line.
I’m glad you’ve made this far! If that all sounds enticing to you, I’d hope you would subscribe and keep up with me on this delicious journey — wherever it may take me.
Merci,
Dylan
